Overview

Project Overview

Nostrify is a comprehensive platform built to streamline the nostrification process for foreign-trained nurses seeking employment in Austria. The app allows candidates to register, upload documents, track progress, and manage multiple applications like Visa-D, RWR-Card, Health Registry, and the complex Application 34 process — all from a single dashboard.

The Problem

The Problem

Foreign-trained professionals, especially in the healthcare sector, often struggle with disjointed and overwhelming application processes when seeking job-related recognition in Austria. The nostrification journey involves navigating a maze of regional regulations, unclear document requirements, language barriers, and inconsistent communication between applicants, employers, and government bodies. Without a clear digital pathway or centralized system, both candidates and agencies face delays, miscommunication, and frequent rework—resulting in frustration, dropped applications, and loss of qualified talent.

The Goal

To design an intuitive, all-in-one platform that simplifies the nostrification and immigration process for foreign professionals—particularly nurses—by providing clear guidance, structured application workflows, multilingual support, and real-time document tracking. The aim was to reduce confusion, ensure regulatory compliance across Austrian states, and empower both candidates and supporting agencies with transparency, accountability, and progress visibility throughout each stage of the journey.

Contributions

My Contributions

End-to-end Design

Created the entire UX flow — from onboarding to final application submission — balancing clarity with compliance.

Multi-step Application Flows

Designed structured, form-based flows with dynamic progress tracking for Application 34, Visa-D, RWR-Card, and more.

File Upload Management

Introduced categorized uploads with language-specific validation, status indicators, and checklist-based file verification.

Dashboard and Analytics

Built dashboards for candidates and agencies to view status summaries, submission timelines, document completeness, and KPIs like success rate and average processing time.

Localization & Accessibility

Designed with multilingual support (EN/DE), ensuring compliance with EU data standards and readability for non-tech-savvy users.

UX Decisions

Key UX Decisions

Clear Application Status Labels
Labels such as “Under Review,” “Submitted,” and “Ready for Review” provide instant clarity and reduce user anxiety by showing exactly where they are in the process.
Smart Progress Indicators
We broke down long, complex government processes into small, actionable steps—like Document Review → Academic Evaluation → Final Decision—making the journey less overwhelming.
Modular Document Uploads
Documents were organized into clear sections—Master, Applicant, and Employer—to avoid clutter, guide responsibility, and streamline both user and agency workflows.
Built-in File Checklists
Each application flow includes dynamic document checklists with status flags, so users know what’s uploaded, missing, or pending review—minimizing confusion and support queries.
"Designing for Nostrify taught me how to prioritize empathy in high-stakes systems. I had to consider the stress, confusion, and urgency candidates feel while applying for recognition abroad. Every step, label, and alert needed to reduce cognitive load and inspire confidence. It was a strong reminder that great UX is not just about aesthetics—it’s about reducing friction where it matters most."
